through the looking glass

Today is one of those wonderful Mondays where it feels like the world is whispering into my ear, "Hey, listen. It's hard for me to admit this, but I sort of like you. Like, lots. And here are a bunch of sunshine-filled, hopeful, happy things to prove it."

A handful of those happy things are these finished photos from a shoot me and my friend Joey worked on last week. I had some free time, he had some free time, and we were both itching to do something. And voila, we did. I was dizzy for hours from all the spinning. But it was totally worth it.

I'm incredibly lucky to be surrounded by such beautiful people, who in turn can make me look pretty darn beautiful as well.

Walking down the street, blinded by summer sunlight, feeling completely content and at home. I think I'll leave that sentence just how it is.

See the rest of the shoot, and more of Joey's beautiful work here here.

summer is the perfect color.

Go buy a honeydew right this second. Be sure to get a nice ripe one that tastes like candy and is the perfect color for a kitchen.

While packing up boxes and boxes of vintage books during our recent move, I somehow stumbled upon this amazing snippet about New York City.

In real life this is just a stack of books and shells, but this picture makes it feel like a little work of art.

And I sort of totally love it.

Ah, Brimfield is an overwhelming blast, but how wonderful it feels to be back in beautiful Brooklyn.

Though to be honest I almost thought our van was going to die on the way up, (if you saw this thing, you'd know what I mean) we made it home safely with a refreshed farmer's tan and a New York apartment sized haul.

Finds will be trickling onto our etsy page, so be sure to check things out there over the next few weeks. In the meantime, take a peek at our favorite vintage find, a 1920's clothes parcel that looks like it came right off a movie set. Or I guess more appropriately, right out of the 1920's.

Perfection.

It's summer!

Get outside, run away from your desk, eat ice cream, jump in pools, wear sun dresses, eat watermelon, listen to the Beach Boys and dance, dance, dance.

This news feels like it's been three years in the making, and in fact, I think that's just about right.

Goodbye, Philadelphia. Hello, New York!

Ever since I left New York in a flurry of life panic a few years ago, I've been dreaming and plotting and planning on coming back. I remember there being a vague plan to find a great guy, figure out what I'm going with my life and move out to California.

At the time I didn't really expect any of those things to come true, but lucky old young me almost got it all. The magic-making Percy Bright, a completely revamped and improved career, and a rekindled love for New York that I think might really last. Especially with a few International love affairs thrown in here and there.

People aren't exactly dying to rent to two people taking the leap with a new business, so we are so grateful to have found such a beautiful place to spend the summer while the hunt for our real apartment continues. Sun streaming in the windows, Fort Greene buzzing around us, a banana whipping juicer that we found in the kitchen - we've got it all!

The place is pretty adorable to start, but we can't wait to show you the spruced up Jersey Ice Cream Co. version. Especially after we hit Brimfield this week.

As Ira Glass would say, in his Ira Glass way, stay tuned.
